(This will be longer than a usual post, I would imagine. This is my first go at all this WordPress blogging business, and I’ll find my rhythm soon enough – bare with me through this post or try to enjoy my tale so far, kiitos!)

Another day in paradise, eh? I’ve decided to write things as a diary day by day, showing how things are going in Finland and our progress in finding a home! I’ll give a run-down on the progress thus far and when we came here and where we are as of 13:59 on the 2nd of April. I believe right now is about the 1 week mark from when we first arrived.     

We flew into Helsinki on the 26th of March (had to remind myself, time flies!) from Tbilisi, though a 4 ish hour layover in Istanbul (SAW) was ahead of us on that long day.

Didn’t sleep for a moment the night before the flight, knowing I would have to wake up at about 2:30 am would mean I would barely sleep anyway so I made the less wise choice of not attempting to fall asleep whatsoever. I knew we had 2 check-in bags along with our carry ons, and the whole check-in process always makes me feel a bit uneasy what with baggage weight and queues, but everything was remarkably efficient in Tbilisi so there was (and often is) no point in me pre-worrying! If only I was a prophet and only foresaw smooth journeys ahead of me!

Back to the present:
I am writing this about two and a half weeks before my 18th birthday, which lands on a Friday, Good Friday, in this instance. This serendipitous occasion will foreshadow my posting schedule (let’s see if I can stick to it 🤞) as follows:

• Fridays: real-time update on what occurred that week, what’s up, what’s going on
• Tuesdays: add a post on previous travels, some advice or anecdotes
• For the beginning weeks/months, I’ll see how this schedule is fairing and odds are I’ll throw in an extra post here or there

Overall, time has really gone quickly here but so far I think we have a shot at staying here long term, what with cheap houses in the sticks and our registration being almost underway (missing two or three things we need to add to the application) I think it might just be feasible.
